Aloha bloggers!
On the Wednesday 13th of November the middle school syndicate went to the Corbans Estate Art Centre on a bus. We went there so we can learn about Pacific traditions. There were two workshops, one was drumming and the other was making leis for a person that is special to us.
We had two groups for two workshops we switched over to the other workshop at half time. We did a dance. The boys did one part and the girls did a part to go with it. My favourite part was the lei making. We had to do a simple pattern to make it "flower straw, flower straw." My lei looked amazing!
I learnt lots of Cook Island, Hawaiian, Samoan and Tongan. I gave my lei to my grandma. I felt sad when we got back to the bus because I wanted to stay longer.
I would like to go there again and I'm sure you would like to go there to Corbans Estate Art Center! Just one thing, you can wear a lei anywhere on your body e.g. head, neck, waste, ankle and your wrist.
