Me and my mum made these little poppies that used; egg cartons, pipe cleaners and paper.
First we cut out the right shape for the poppies. Next we painted them and left it to dry overnight. The next morning mum put two holes opposite each other through the bottom of the egg carton and I put the pipe cleaner through, twisted it over and back through the other hole. We then stuck the black paper circles in the middle of the painted egg carton with a pipe cleaner. Just for decoration we made little loops in the pipe cleaner so it looked like it had small leaves.

Hi Madeleine, wow, what a fabulous and creative way to make poppies. As we have walked the streets in our area, we have seen so many houses with pictures of poppies in the window. It was so nice to see that the soldiers who fought for our freedom are being remebered and we are seeing poppies although they haven't been able to be sold this year because of lockdown. Where did you get the idea for using egg cartons to create your poppies.

Kia ora Maddy - your poppies are beautiful. It's great to see that you were able to create these out of things you already had lying around the house - a fabulous way to reuse the egg cartons. Maybe you could surprise your mum for Mother's Day in a couple of weeks, by making some more flowers but altering the shapes and colours?

ReplyDeleteGreat work using your creative thinking to make the poppies. Like Ms McGrath said, you can create many things with what is already in your home. Maybe you could design some other types of flowers to give as a gift at some stage.

ReplyDeleteYou are so creative when you doing everything.I think they are so pretty. At first I thought they were real.Maybe you could make different flowers as well. I could make them if I had some egg cartons. I will love too try to make one to go my table or wall if i can fit them.
