My Marble Run Movie

Fakkalofa lahi atu bloggers,
Me and my dad made a crazy marble run. We used lots of different equipment to make it amazing, pool noodles, tubes, funnels, chairs & stools, trays & chocolate bunnys! yum yum!

How I made the Marble Run & the Movie:

First we constructed the marble run, then dad helped me make the movie.
To make the movie we used lots of different videos and put them into the app called "Imovie" we cut and copied and pasted them in the right order.

Here is the video of "My Marble Run Movie":

  1. What a cool movie of your marble run, Madeleine! I especially like the slow-motion parts. It is cool to see you learning how to edit your movie while you are in lockdown. I wonder if we can do that on our Chromebooks when we are back in school in person. You could be our teacher in that session because I'd love to learn how to do that.
In the meantime, you have earned yourself some house points... 1 for writing your blog post and 1 for having a go at the design challenge on our distance learning tumble. Tino pai!

    1. Thank you Mrs McLellan. The reason why we had the slow-motion part was because dad accidentally had it set on slow-motion instead of normal video but I thought that it would be fun to have a bit of slow-motion in my movie. It would be fun to be the teacher someday as well!

  2. Wow Madeleine!
That is a very creative marble run. It's REALLY cool how you did a slow motion clip at the end. It's incredible how you used so many different equipments to make that. You are very creative. This is a great activity to do in lockdown. This blog post will give the reader and idea of what to do in the weekends.

Keep up the amazing work and creative activities. I'd LOVE to hear more of your blog posts. Make sure to keep blogging and keep commenting. Ka pai!!!

  3. This is fantastic Madeleine - I really like how you've used things that you've found around home to create the run. I have lots of questions because it looked like so much fun:
    1) What was your process - did you create a design first on paper, or did you get straight into making it? 2) How did you come up with the idea? 3) If you were to make it again, how would you modify it and why?
Thanks for commenting on Mr Rattenbury's post - his marble run was quite different to yours wasn't it? I noticed that Danielle commented on Mr Rattenbury's post to say she was making one too - it would be interesting to see what hers is like and what the similarities and differences are.
Thanks for being so engaged with your distance learning this week Maddy - have a lovely weekend in your bubble and we'll see you on Monday. :-)

    1. Hi Mrs McGrath, I can answer your first question: we made it up along the way and I thought that an Easter theme would be nice.

  4. Wow Madeline, that was such a great marble run. I hadn't thought of using a noodle as part of a marble run...what a great idea. Was it difficult to construct? Did you have to make any changes to your design?

    1. Hi Mr Rattenbury, and yes it was hard to construct. We had to adjust lots of things so that is was just right for the video because every time we put the marble down the shoot everything moved just a bit and so it took a lot of time.

  5. Hi Madeleine, I was so interested in your marble run. You used a wide range of items to construct it. Making a movie was a great idea so we could see it in action. It worked very well! Did you get to eat the chocolate bunnies eventually? Could you add or change your original marble run to create a new one?
As term two moves along, it would be great if you could put up some more posts of the learning you are doing from home. Because none of us are at school, teachers and classmates can't see the fabulous work we are all doing. You may inspire others, just as you were inspired by Mr Rattenbury, and give them ideas of things they might like to try.

    1. Hi Mrs Paterson, I did get to eat the chocolate bunnies eventually but mum & dad wanted some so they ate some of the chocolate bunnies as well. If you look at my reply I gave to Rael you will see that I will be going to do a post for my egg carton poppies that me a nd my mum made.

  6. Hi Maddy,
What a fantastic marble run! A great idea to use things from around the house. Very creative🤩. I wonder how far you could make it run? Maybe using stairs in your house to go further. I especially liked your movie making skills.... that showed us how well your marble run worked. Those chocolate bunnies at the end are my favourite. I hope you enjoyed them.
Looking forward to seeing more of your posts.
    Stay safe in your bubble.
    From Mrs Mackenzie
